Movie game.

So A few weeks ago I came across the Icon Pop Quiz apple app. https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/icon-pop-quiz/id568334356?mt=8

It's a great game in which you are given an icon for a character or movie and from that you guess the movie title or character. You can get hints which cost you money. It's a lot of fun and a great movie trivia game.

One thing that did annoy me about this app is that for the animated t.v. characters, e.g. Homer Simpson or Glenn Quagmire, if you wrote their last or full name it was incorrect you could ONLY write their first name for it to be right. e.g. Glenn NOT Quagmire or Glenn Quagmire.
^The above paragraph has now been fixed and changed on the game. :)

How to have an epic movie experience.

Okay, it has been requested that I do a post on how to have a good movie experience, although there is no right or wrong way to watch a movie there are certain things that make a watching a movie better.

When ever I watch a movie I always have to have the lights off otherwise they reflect off the screen and it annoys me, I also have my tv in front of my window (which the curtains stay closed) because that way even if I choose to open the curtains for what ever reason there's no distracting or annoying shadows/reflections on the t.v. screen.

Also I usually watch movies in bed away from my loud siblings, so I'm used to having tons of pillows and blankets when watching a movie. It's gotten to a point that if I'm watching a movie out in the lounge room or in the shed I have to have a quilt with me. This is especially good for watching Horrors or Thrillers.

Now, whenever I'm watching a movie I always need something to drink and snack on. Usually foods that are unhealthy if you have too much at once.

Then when it comes down to the volume when watching a movie, I usually have it up really loud. I'm notorious for getting told off for the volume being up too high. However when you have a good surround sound, or even if you don't, having the sound up is a given. I get so annoyed at my dad when we're watching a movie and he has the volume on 15 or under because I miss half of everything thats said.

As far as electronics go, they don't. Laptops, iPods, iPads, No, No, No! Just no. There is nothing more annoying for me then trying to watch a movie with someone who is paying more attention to facebook then the movie. You miss out on so much. And then they turn to you at a vital point in the movie and go I don't get it, or who is that, or why's that happening. I understand that sometimes when your watching something and theres a really funny quote that you want to tweet or facebook, but when its something you've never seen before and your face is on the computer screen for 90% of the movie thats not cool.

Also make sure the movie is suitable for all viewers. Theres nothing more uncomfortable than watching If These Walls Could Talk 2 with young children or for teens with parents, and the only thing worse than watching Amusement with someone who's not okay with scary movies is, well, nothing.

I hope this helped and if not then I'm sorry.

My Top Thirteen Horror Movies (I've seen so far)

1. Stephen King's IT
2. Stephen King's Pet Sematary
3. Dead Silence
4. Scream
5. Nightmare On Elm Street (the originals!!!) & A Wes Craven's New Nightmare
6. The Amityville Horror
7. The Exorcist
8. Candyman
9. Brainscan
10. Braindead
11. Thir13en Ghosts
12. Amusement
13. Don't Be Afraid of The Dark

A few of these movies, if you are interested in seeing, you will need to purchase from over seas if you are in Australia.
Alright, so a little info about these movies and why I chose them.

IT
I love IT. This is truly an amazing story by Stephen King. I think the actors they chose for the roles are awesome, I can't think of anyone who'd be better to play Pennywise then Tim Curry. By the end of this movie you fall in love with all the characters, yes even Pennywise. I completely adore all the characters; Bill, Richie, Eddie, Ben, Mike, Beverly Stan and even the dreaded Pennwise. However my favourites are Bill because I love his stutter and just his personality in general, Richie because I love the comedian in him and Pennywise because I love how lame he is when he's over elaborating on the punchline of jokes.

Pet Sematary
In Pet Sematary I adore Gage he's so cute and innocent even when he's became evil. I absolutely loved Church (both when he was alive and when he was evil) and Fred. I would have killed for a cat as awesome as Church, even when we was evil. I think Lewis was a complete loon. I mean how long until you learn, I would have buried Church and let that be all and that's only because I'm selfish and want a creepy ass cat  that no one else has anything like. This movie I laughed at a lot, but Rachel's sister really disturbed me and maybe, possible even scared me a little.

Dead Silence
This one I watched a little while ago, but it was amazing! I loved the puppets. They were so creepy, yet so amazing!

Scream
Scream is one of my all time favourites! I love the wacky characters and just in general I love Wes Craven's work. Billy is such a cutie, even as a psycho and Stu? well what can I say he's my loon. Sidney is a kick ass girl, she's a strong one. I hope when it comes to coping with things I can be like her.

Nightmare On Elm Street (the originals!!!) & A Wes Craven's New Nightmare
I had to include A Wes Craven's New Nightmare with the Nightmare On Elm Streets because it is amazing! In my opinion it is the scariest out of all the Freddy Kruger movies. Okay, so quick answer I love the Nightmares and I'm in love with Freddy Kruger. I do need to say that it really annoys me when people say the remake is better that the originals. NO REMAKE IS EVER BETTER! Freddy in the remake wasn't even scary, he wasn't even Freddy! It's never Freddy unless it's Robert Englund! The ONLY thing I liked about the remake was Kyle Gallner.

The Amityville Horror
This movie was amazing! I think Ryan Reynolds did a super job at playing a psycho. The story line was great and I think that one did give me the chills.

The Exorcist
WOW! It is a classic. Personally, I laughed through it, especially when she was going down the stairs backwards and being all possessed and everything. However I laugh in most horrors and I have the sickest sense of humour.

Candyman
I found this movie had a great storyline and an amazing twist to it. I loved it. Nevertheless I still refuse to say Candyman at all in front of a mirror, sorry, but I value my life.

Brainscan
One word to describe this movie? Stunning. Brainscan is so left of centre it could just be called left. I want to marry Trikster he is so cool. I was speechless from the twist in the movie at the end it was just YEOWZA.

Braindead
Braindead, also called Dead Alive is a B movie directed by Peter Jackson, who also directed Lord of Th Rings. It was one of his first movies along with Bad Taste which is also a B movie. Braindead is a comedy horror, however it is sick humor. It is very twisted and sick, but I thought it was cool.

Thir13en Ghosts
Thir13en Ghosts is one of my favourite movies of all time. This is another one starring Matthew Lillard (who you should know from such movies as Scream and Scooby doo) as well as Tony Shalhoub (who you should know as Adrian Monk). This is not like most ghost movies where  it is a haunted house, it is actually quite different and it is those differences that make me love it.

Amusement
This movie is stuffed up. It gave me the chills. I hate the large clown in the girls room. I hate it! It is scary! The main guy in this is a complete nut case and his laugh is guaranteed to stick with you for days after you see it.

Don't Be Afraid of The Dark
This movie gave me the heebie geebies. Now when I'm going to the bathroom at night in the dark I RUN back in my room to the safety of the light, for I fear the little creatures that thrive in the dark.

Well, that is that. I hope this helped people to find horrors, if thats what floats your boat. It sure does float mine. However if horrors aren't you're apple crumble, then maybe you aught to stick to action and comedy.

Harry Potter Series.

So I have just watched this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=8coMsohDCS0 which is all about the Harry Potter series and it is utterly amazing. It's brought back all the best parts. It's lit the embers of magic and turned them back into flames. If you are a big Harry Potter fan or you've just seen the movies and loved them then I highly suggest you check it out.

Movie Review:

Breaking Dawn Part 2

And the tale goes on with the epic ending to this much beloved saga.

Okay, so in this review I'm going to kick straight into my personal opinion, here goes. I have been lucky enough to score two free tickets to the premier of Breaking Dawn Part 2 for Thursday the 14th of November, but it has taken up to today, Saturday the 17th for me to decide what i thought of it.

This was defiantly an epic story, however I was quite frustrated, I don't know if its because of the way I am, or not but the way the ending went made me slightly annoyed. In the movie there is a critical part where something big happens and I was so sad. I almost cried. Then just when you're getting all worked but and sad and heart broken, it turns out to be a big trick where it doesn't end up happening. That was probably really confusing to read, but you'll understand when you see it.Anyway, so you go though all that emotion for nothing. I wasn't too happy about that.

It was an amazing movie, despite my own frustrations. It was quite funny and emotional, and thats what a movie is supposed to do, its supposed to get you interested, supposed to make you connect. I just don't like showing emotion all too much.

I highly suggest Breaking Dawn to most people, even if you're a guy and think "its girlie, its not real vampires, blah blah blah." go see it, its actually quite decent and that is coming from a girl who did the whole Vampires don't sparkle they burn argument. Someone who loves True blood and The Lost boys would love this.

Movie Review:

Rock Of Ages!

A musical featuring  Julianne HoughDiego Boneta and Tom Cruise. However there are also many other big names suck as; Russell BrandAlec BaldwinCatherine Zeta-Jones and Paul Giamatti, just to name a few.

This fantastic film follows the story line of a small town girl meeting a city boy on Sunset Strip in Hollywood and instantly have a connection. They go on to peruse their big name dreams together and face all the challenges it will bring.

This movie is an extreme music a new song every minute or so, so if you don't like the idea of a rock 'n' roll glee or just the idea of rock and roll in general I highly suggest you steer away from this one.

This movie features classic Rock 'n' Roll songs like:

  • I love rock 'n' roll
  • Pour some sugar on me
  • We built this city on rock 'n' roll
  • Wanted dead or alive
  • Hit me with your best shot
  • Rock you like a hurricane
  • Can't fight this feeling
  • Don't stop believing
  • Any way you want it
  • Every rose has it's thorn
  • I remember you
  • Paradise City
So, I just finished watching Rock Of Ages for the first time ever, and my mind = blown! I loved every second of watching. I more than love the song list the very fact that they are the 'classics' made it great because anyone who is true rock n roll would know them, so I was sitting there watching screaming the words out to every song. The only word going through my mind right now to describe the movie is WOW!

Rock 'n' Roll never dies! ♥

Movie review:

Ferris Bueller's day off:

1986 movie featuring  Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller, Alan Ruck as Cameron Frye and Mia Sara as Sloane Peterson.
Ferris Bueller's Day off is about Ferris, Cameron and Sloane taking the day off of school and running a complete muck. They do everything from dining at a highly respectable restaurant to dancing on a parade float. However the whole day is not all fun and games, Ferris's principal is trying to bust him for 'wagging' school. This movie is full of fun and laughs its one the whole family can enjoy.

Personal opinion: Ferris Bueller's day off is one of my favourite movies of all time, if i had to choose twenty movies to watch for the rest of my life it would defiantly be in the top five. I love all Ferris's little tricks and the way he out smarts everyone. My favoutie scene in the movie would probably have to be when he's on the parade float and the Beetles twist and shout is playing.
I highly recommend this movie to everyone.

Movie Review:

Moulin Rouge:

2001 movie featuring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
Its a movie about the passionate love between a beautiful courtesan and a penny-less writer. It shows just how true the saying ' its better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all' is.
the story line is a stunning courtesan and very poetic writer fall in love but a duke driven by jealousy tries to split them apart and wants the courtesan all to himself. This movie is a musical there is literally another song every minute or so. Therefore if you are not a fan of musicals maybe steer away for this classic.

My opinion: I loved this movie I loved the story line and I loved the music. Its quite a full on emotional movie I cried in the end. As for the music it has a lot of the classics such as:
like a virgin - Madonna (performed by Harold and the duke)
Roxanne - the police (performed by Jose Feliciano and Christian)
The show must go on - Queen ( performed by Harold)
As well as many more classics.

I watched Moulin Rouge for the first time a few nights ago and ever since i have had the songs and movie on constant replay. I highly suggest this movie to people who like Rocky Horror Picture show and Romeo and Juliet it is a mix of the two. Don't worry though it's not shakesperian its all in English we can all understand, but the love story is a little similar.

Wes Craven.

So I thought I'd do a post about Wes Craven seeming as he is such an important person in the movie world and because he's one of my favourite writers/director/producer. So here goes.

About Wes Craven:

  • father to Jonathan and Jessica Craven
  • Spouse Iya Labunka
  • divorced to Mimi Craven
  • also divorced to Bonnie Broecker (with two children.)
  • Birth Name: Wesley Earl Craven
Known for:
  • The last house on the left
  • The hills have eyes
  • Freddy Vs. Jason
  • Scream
  • Scream 2
  • Scream 3
  • Scream 4
  • Nightmare on elm street
  • Nightmare on elm street: Freddy's revenge
  • Nightmare on elm street: Dream Warriors
  • Nightmare on elm street: The dream master
  • Nightmare on elm street: the dream child
  • Nightmare on elm street: Freddy's dead
  • A Wes Craven's New Nightmare
If you cannot tell by that list my favourite movies by Wes are the Nightmare on Elm Street series, Wes Craven's new nightmare and Freddy Vs. Jason as well as Scream and Scream 4. Pretty much anything with Freddy Kruger in it and the first and last Scream.

From all the classics and much loved movies Craven's re-invented horror will but him down in the history books. Craven with be right there with Stephen King in the list of horror movie icons. The name Wes Craven will never be forgotten.

Movie Mad-Chick Review: Stephen King's It

Movie: It
Based off of the Stephen King novel IT. (which I should be starting to read soon, so expect a review and a comparison of the movie and book)

Summary: This movie is about seven children who band together to defeat an immortal evil. IT can be anything, there is no way to define it, or give IT a name, the closest description to what IT is would be pure fear.

Pennywise the clown (The form and name IT takes majority of the movie) is not like the clowns in kids movies, he's not out to make you laugh, unless you have a phobia of laughter, in that case its laughs all day and all night. Pennywise is out to terrify all youngsters and bring some of them to his underground 'play house'.
When Billy, Richie, Beverly, Ben, Mike, Stan and Eddie ban together to defeat this evil a great bond is made between these friends. Once they defeated  IT they made a pact to come back and face their worst fears all over again if IT ever came back.
Then years later their promise was finally tested to see who would stand by their word... Yes, that's right IT was back!

My Opinion:
This is one of my favourite movies of all time! Its amazing! Tim Curry did an astonishing job as Pennywise the clown, but i think he always makes a good looney ( i mean that in the best way though.) I loved the story and ALL the characters. Especially Billy and Richie, both as children and adults. I loved Bill's stutter i though it suited him well and who couldn't love Richie's jokes. After watching the film I did have to go on the web to find out what the meaning/ relevance of the  characters always saying "beep beep Richie". Just to explain that it pretty much was their way of saying very funny, jokes over, you've gone too far.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes horror movies. Its absolutely astounding! I'd have to rate it 10/10. I love this movie so much.

Also to anyone who has seen this and is looking for another good left of centre movie try Rocky Horror Picture Show, it also has Tim Curry in a leading role playing a loopy transsexual transvestite, he actually playes the part really well and much like Pennywise, I cant think of anyone better for the role of an oddball like that then Tim Curry.

Movie Mad-chick Review: Cujo

Movie: Cujo

originally a book my Stephen King, who is an amazing author his stories are very enjoyable if you like the send chills running down you spine books. Those slightly (or completely) left or centre novels.Story line: Cujo is about a dog (a St. Bernard) named Cujo who is a very sweet puppy that gets bitten from a bat and transforms into a vicious killing machine. He changes into a dog from hell so to speak. While Vic, on of the main characters are away on business, his wife (Donna) and son (Tad) have some car trouble and go to a well known mechanic for help. It's the mechanic who is the owner of 'Cujo'. However when they get there they find the mechanic is nowhere to be seen They try to leave, but their car breaks down completely and there is no escape. Finally little to their enjoyment they are trapped in their car by a demonic nightmare. My Opinion: The beginning of the movie was quite slow and i found it boring really, however when it finally got to them being stuck in the car i was on edge for the rest of the movie. So all the waiting was well worth it. Its really good towards the end there are quite a few extra issues throw into the already hectic situation. This movie it definitely one i would recommend to people with  the patience to wait for the excitement.I'd give Cujo a rating of 8/10Super random fact: Cujo was a St. Bernard whose real name was Daddy.Daddy was trained by Karl Lewis Miller, who trained the dogs in Babe, Beethoven and K-9.
