Movie Apps.

So lately I have been downloading some movie apps and checking them out. Some are actually pretty good, so here are just a few of them.  (These are all apple apps.)

Flixster. Flixster is an app which shows you all about movies. It tells you whats in box office, cinema and dvd. It tells you what is up coming and also allows you to find movies by actors.

When you click on a movie it shows you the cover, critics rating and audience rating. It also shows other people’s reviews. You also have the option to rate and review a movie and you can also put it on a want to see list and choose the ‘Not Interested’ button.  From Flixster you can also decide to buy the movie on iTunes, add to queue or check in. It also shows you a complete blurb for the movie, it has photos from the movie and tells you who the director and cast is.

I love this app it is amazing!

Paramount 100. Paramount 100 I have not fully checked out yet, but I will do my best to give this app its justice. When you open the app it opens up to a slide show of pictures from Paramount movie pictures. If you click on the contents you are shown 8 options.
1.     Foreword; shows you two pages of writing about Paramount pictures.
2.     100 Years In Pictures; allows you to flip though photos from movie from there you can stop on a picture and click details which shows you 6 options.1, info. 2, media. 3, Academy Awards. 4, purchase. 5, share. 6, close details.
3.     Films; allows you to go through all the covers of movies. At the bottom just above the contents it shows you the years in which the movies were made. When you click on the movie cover it allows you to flip through pictures from the movie and also had the same details as before.
4.     Academy Awards; Shows you in which years who and what received an academy award and what for.
5.     The Paramount Story; gives you 11 paragraphs about Paramount pictures and photos to go with the story.
6.     Studio Tour; shows a full map of the studio.
7.     Scene It; allows you to play the Scene It game.
8.     Home; pretty self explanatory.

Again I love this app!

Time Populist. Allows you to see lists for movies, books, music, t.v, games as well as make your own lists. This app is awesome. Its great to read a professionals opinion and see what other think.

Big Movie Quiz. A lot like the Icon Pop Quiz it shows you characters from movies and from that you are supposed to guess which movie it is. There are six stages to complete. There is every movie from Monsters Inc. to Grease, to The King’s Speech.
A really fun a game.
Well, that is all folks! I hope this has helped a little, or a lot. J

Obviously I don't just choose a movie from its cover, the cover is generally what appeals to me, but I read up on it and find out about the movie, its audience and storyline. (Without reading any spoilers.)

Some Of My Favourite Movie Quotes (In No Specific Order)

Mr. Creedy: Why won't you die?
V: Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea and ideas are bullet proof. Mr. Creedy
                                                                        - V For Vendettta
I don't shut up, I grow up and when I look at you I throw up and then your mum comes and licks it up.
                                                                       - Stand By Me
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing. Like the first monkey shot into space.
                                                                       - Fight Club
From the moment we enter this live we are in the flow of it. We measure it and We mock it, but we cannot defy it. We cannot even speed it up or slow it down. Or can we? Have we not each experienced the sensation that a beautiful moment seemed to pass to quickly, and wished that we could make it linger? Or felt time slow on a dull day, and wished that we could speed things up a bit?
                                                                    - The Illusionist
Give me the child. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great...For my will is as strong as yours, my kingdom as great... Damn.I can never remember that line. You have no power over me.
                                                                   - Labyrinth
Me? I've had so many names. Old names that only the wind and the trees can pronounce. I am the mountain, the forest and the earth. I am... I am a faun. Your most humble servant, Your Highness.
                                                                 - Pan's Labyrinth
You know! It's no wonder I'm so screwed up! I mean look at you guys you don't even talk to me. I'm your son remember. Why don't you ever give me the benefit of the doubt? You don't even ask me if anything's wrong. You don't even ask me if I'm hurt. I mean what's the matter with you? You don't understand what it's like to be a kid in today's society! I'm trying my hardest. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I screamed. It's just really upsetting. I try to do everything I can and I'm studying hard and I'm going to do good on my SATs on Saturday. I'm going to.
                                                           - Dream A Little Dream
Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did *was* wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...
 ...and an athlete...
...and a basket case...
...a princess...
 ...and a criminal...
Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
                                                     - The Breakfast Club
Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

Cheap Movies That Should Not Be Overlooked

Lately I've been trying to shop for movies on a budget. Trying to get better cheaper deals and more for my money. So here is a list of movies that I have brought at great prices.  They are also movies that I personally have found amazing.
The Illusionist. Featuring Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti and Jessica Biel. This is a fantastic movie about true love and how an illusionist (played my Edward Norton) uses his magic to get the love of his life away from a horrid prince.
I got The Illusionist from Big W for $5

The Score. Featuring Robert Deniro, Edward Norton and Marlon Brando. I must say I have not yet watched The Score, but it was reccomended to me by my dad who is the one that reccomends most movies to me. The reason why I purchased it without seeing it first is because I trust my dad's judgement and also there are a few actors, directors and writers whoes movies I have to get because they are so amazing. As well as I always seem to love their movies.
I brought The Score from Big W for $5

Clue. Featuring Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren. Clue is quite a funny movie based off of the game Cludo. There are 3 different surprise endings. So, was it Miss Scarlet in the Ball room with the dagger, or Professor Plum in the Kitchen with the Candle stick?
I purchased Clue at Big W for $5
Rat Race. Featuring Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr. Seth green, John Lovitz, Breckin Meyer and Amy Smart. Rat Race is a hilarious movie about a race against time to find and collect millions. Rat Race features some of the funniest actors out there.
I picked up Rat Race from Big W for $5 (are you seeing a pattern?)
The Virgin Suicides. featuring James Woods, Kirsten Dunst, Josh Harnett and Kathleen Turner.  This is a really left of centre movie. It follows the Libson sisters and how one after another they all committ suicide.
I got The Virgin Suicides from Big W for $5

Some other places to look for cheap movies are Blockbuster, Video Ezy, Ebay, Amazon, Itunes, Jb Hi-Fi and other video shops.
When looking for movies online you should check out:
Brain scan
Bad Taste
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Braindead
Carrie
Evil Dead
Memento
V for Vendetta

How to decide on a movie when you're with friends.

Hey movie maniacks!! So last night, on my Glipho How to have an epic movie experience post, NKR asked me 'Do you have any suggestions though how to agree upon a certain movie! I've observed that this has been one of the most difficult tasks in movie nights with friends!'' I have thought quite a bit about this question since then and I thought I'd make a post about it.

There are several ways you could decide on a movie. Here are just a few ways;
  1. Have a vote; remember majority rules.
  2. Write the names of the movies you can't decide between on pieces of paper, put them inside a hat and then pull out a piece of paper (without cheating!! e.g. only writing one movie name a few times or looking)
  3. If you're deciding between two movies flip a coin or rock paper scissors.
  4. If you have the movie covers hold them behind your back and get your friend to choose an arm.
So these are probably pretty simple ways of choosing, but I find they always work. Also if a friend can't watch a specific movie e.g. King Kong or a horror or thriller just because it really scares or creeps them out, don't push it on them. Be the bigger person and watch a different movie. Remember, you can always watch it on your own some other time or with another friend.
